Boston Strangler: Enter the Dark World of Boston's Infamous Killer Streaming Now on Hulu

In 1960s Boston, thirteen women were killed by a serial killer known as the Boston Strangler. This true story is brought to the screen in the 2023 historical crime drama film, written and directed by Matt Ruskin. Keira Knightley stars as Loretta McLaughlin, a Boston Record American reporter who broke the story. She is joined by an all-star cast, including Carrie Coon, Alessandro Nivola, Chris Cooper, David Dastmalchian, and Morgan Spector.

The film follows McLaughlin as she investigates the murders, uncovering the killer's pattern of tying stockings around the victims' necks. Despite rampant sexism in the workplace and society, she and fellow reporter Jean Cole continue the investigation. Along the way, they discover the Boston Police Department's mishandling of the case and the overlooking of similar murders in other cities, such as New York City.

The film takes a deep dive into the case, exploring the suspects, the flawed investigation, and the media's sensationalism. The story culminates in a theory that suggests the killer was not one, but multiple people, and that the infamous confession of Albert DeSalvo was coached by fellow suspects.

With a top-notch cast and crew, Boston Strangler brings this chilling true story to life with stunning cinematography and a haunting score. The film was released by Hulu on March 17, 2023, and quickly became one of the most streamed programs across all platforms in the United States.
