Owl’s Nest Beer Garden On The Esplanade (Now Night Shift Beer Garden)
Updated July 2025
Boston’s favorite riverfront beer garden is still going strong — just under a new name. What was once known as Owl’s Nest is now the Night Shift Beer Garden on the Esplanade, a seasonal outdoor destination for craft beer lovers, families, and anyone looking to enjoy a cold drink with unbeatable views of the Charles River.
With the Boston skyline behind you and sailboats gliding by, this pop-up beer garden is one of the best ways to experience summer in the city.
🍻 What to Expect at Night Shift Beer Garden
Presented by Everett-based Night Shift Brewing, the beer garden serves up a rotating selection of their craft beers, hard seltzers, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks. There’s also a lineup of local food trucks (frequently including Brato Brewhouse), with menu favorites like tacos, grilled sandwiches, and loaded fries — perfect for soaking up a sunny afternoon or unwinding after work.
If you’re planning a summer day out, it’s a great idea to pair this spot with a few of the Top 10 Boston Summer Events happening nearby.
The garden offers plenty of seating, bike racks, bathroom stations, and lawn games, making it a welcoming stop for commuters, joggers, and families alike.
✅ Pro Tip: It’s one of the few outdoor drinking spots directly on the Esplanade — meaning you can hop off the riverwalk and straight into a drink with a view.
🐶 Are Dogs Allowed?
As of 2025, leashed dogs are welcome again at the beer garden! (Just be sure to clean up after your pup.) Service animals are always allowed.
